LEE MITCHELL (NIELSON) CHALLIS passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2014.  He was born September 22, 1944 in Oakland, CA.  Lee moved to Cedar City as Lee Nielson, but later changed his name to Challis.  Tom and Ruth Challis were considered his parents.

Lee had a hip operation in August, 2013.  After the operation, he kept going downhill.  He was hospitalized, but he never recovered from this procedure.

Lee was a member of the LDS Church and served a Dallas, TX, Spanish Speaking Mission.  He served in the National Guard as a Medical Specialist and Sharpshooter.  He was the top salesman in the United States for Almond Roca.  He worked for NPS Security for 16 years.

He is survived by his wife, DelRae Rasmussen Challis, 5 brothers, 1 sister, and 9 children.
