SUSAN ASHCROFT (ENCE)  had a knee replacement--then fell and broke her ankle on the other side. She has been in the hospital and rehab. Susan says she is up, but not kicking! She moved to Northern Utah, and her daughter went to law school. Her daughter is now an attorney in St. George. Get Well Soon and HAPPY BIRTHDAY,  SUSAN

RUTH STONE (PETERSON)  LEFT MESSAGE   HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RUTH

SHEILA ROBB (JOLLEY)  has been home canning all morning. She says their garden is always great--they are just getting too old to enjoy all the work. She and Doyle have a property in the Bryce Canyon area.

Doyle and Sheila worked in the Red Cliffs Temple for the first year it was open and really enjoyed it. They are coming home for a missionary report from their missionary grandson who just got back from Peru, and a missionary farewell for a missionary grandson who is headed to Panama.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHEILA.

MICKI IPSEN (CLUGSTON)  and Chuck are in Gunnison, Utah, tending kids. Micki was out walking with six year old twins. She has had replacements like most of us, but is in good health. She works on being happy and positive.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICKI

SUZANNE SARGENT (KIRKPATRICK)

OCHENTA!!! How can that possibly be?  I guess it really is possible, since my high school boyfriend sadly passed away, as well as two of my three husbands. Life has gone by so fast. Though there has been great tragedy, there has also been great joy.  I continue to feel grateful and lucky to be in excellent health. I live within a 12 minute walk to centro. And the hill is very steep, keeping my heart and legs healthy.

The plan was to have been walking the Portuguese Coastal Camino - starting in Porto on my birthday with my three sisters, but fate intervened once again; Kathleen last year, and now my oncologist sister, Saundra with breast cancer. So we’ve had to delay it for the second year in a row.  I feel sure we’ll be doing it next year at last.  We went to India in February, and we love traveling together. I’m coming to Utah the 26th and we’ll spend time at both Kathleen’s cabin in Alton, and Saundra’s on the Provo river. We plan to hike in Zion and Bryce.

I believe I mentioned living in San Miguel de Allende, the central highland’s of Mexico. We moved here mainly because Jack wanted to. But every day I look toward heaven and say “THANK YOU JACK, for MAKING me move here!  It is perfect for me in every single way - the culture available is just insane. EXCEPT there’s no ocean.

I was in the states for 2 1/2 months this summer, having shoulder replacement surgery, and took my two 14 year old grandsons to Hawaii, then on the way home, detoured to Salt Lake to stay with Saundra for a week.

For my birthday I’ll be dining with two very close friends at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the Parrochia, the iconic church of San Miguel, and watching the Independence Day fireworks, which I always say are for me.

Best regards to all!

SUZANNE             HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SUZANNE

GLENNIS SMITH (BINGHAM)  Left Message  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GLENNIS

** OBITUARY FOR MICHAEL HEATON (Cedar High Class of  '64)

Washington City, Utah - Micheal Lee Heaton, 80, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025. He was born July 19, 1945, in Cedar City, Utah to Glen and Charlotte Bunting Heaton. He married Alice Joy Riding, September 1, 1967, in St. George, Utah.

Michael was our age, but didn't start school until one year later. Born with a congenital heart defect, he fought for his life every day for 80 years. His first ten years were spent struggling to walk and breathe. At the age of 10 he underwent the first aorta transplant west of the Mississippi river at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City. Doctors said he wouldn't live to be 16, but Mike had something they didn't foresee - grit!

He graduated from Cedar High in 1964, served a mission to England, and met Alice Joy Riding at the College of Southern Utah.

Mike lived with pain every day of his life. He broke his legs eight different times, shattered both heels, broke his back in a truck accident, was run over by a tractor, endured two major strokes and four heart surgeries. Despite all this, Mike never gave up. He was full of love, strength and resilience.

WAYNE COOLEY still lives in Tennessee. He and his son came to Utah awhile back. They stopped to see relatives, and went to a Cousin Reunion in Parowan. He stopped in Wyoming to see a relative who has 3,000 head of cattle. They went to Crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore.

Of course, we talked about old times. Wayne said he remembered Lennis Davis, JoAnn Duncan, and Neil Roberts were really fast runners at the West Elementary. Lenora Adams had Wayne for Saddie Hawkins. Wayne said that when he first started football in high school, Neil was a great mentor. He has always appreciated that help. Wayne is doing well. He has been divorced for about a year and a half. His kids take good care of him, and his daughter lives with him.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WAYNE.

ELIZABETH PARKINSON (WAHL) has had to give up Sweet Adeline, the group with whom she sang. She still sings with the ward choir. Elizabeth was with her singing group for quite awhile, and they performed all over. She has had her knees and her heart repaired. Doctors put in implants to control the problems with her heart, and now she is feeling much better. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ELIZABETH

JEAN MISEL (LAMOREAUX) lives in Sun Lakes, AZ.  Her family lives near her, and her girls are giving her a birthday party--a Brunch with lots of food.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JEAN
